Going GREEN A long standing Bob Johnson’s Commitment There is a lot of talk about going GREEN these days. Many businesses talk about going GREEN and several businesses have been started with the aim of helping you go GREEN. Pete Teague, Sales & Marketing Manager at Bob Johnson’s once said: “The true measure of a company’s commitment to GREEN is what that company is doing about it and more important, for how long or are they just part of a new wave of popular concern”. With that in mind, we want to point out our own commitment, and site an example of how Panasonic has demonstrated their commitment to GREEN. You will see just one of the examples of where Panasonic went GREEN long before it became popular. “At Bob Johnson’s Computer Stuff we believe in reusing and repurposing existing goods for the preservation of the environment – and that comes back to all of us in hard dollar savings and a cleaner, more healthy environment for generations to come”. This sentence was the closing line in our recent article titled Why Buy Used Computers. For twelve years, just by virtue of what we do here; Bob Johnson’s Computer Stuff has actively supported the GREEN Movement. We do this by helping our clients extend the life of their existing IT assets through repair, refurbishment and effective disposition programs. As we discussed in our October article on Managing IT Assets, that we have teamed with HOBI International, a leading global ISO 14001 certified electronics recycling and asset management company. HOBI is actively involved in protecting the environment through a number of programs designed to promote both reuse and recycling. To name a few, HOBI’s programs include: Electronics recycling, design for disassembly, logistics management, and resale and cell-phone collection. All of HOBI’s programs along with Bob Johnson's Computer Stuff helps clients maximize their IT expenditures and drive a cleaner environment. In addition to our own general asset management programs and those of HOBI, we have teamed with other vendors in related businesses. For example the sources from which we select and buy our used laptops. As another example, we have teamed with Battery Universe . Battery Universe is a supplier of high-quality aftermarket replacement batteries for laptop computers, two-way radios, camcorders, UPSs and more. What we have mentioned here and the programs we collectively offer with our partners and suppliers help our clients contain costs and support going GREEN. The bottom line is that Bob Johnson’s Computer Stuff is more that just a source for lower cost IT solutions. We are not just a “me-to” GREEN Supporter – Rather, with our partners, we are truly engaged in protecting the environment by the very nature of our businesses. As Dorrina Montefusco, O.A. Manager at Bob Johnson’s Computer Stuff put it: “We were involved in the GREEN Movement long before it became fashionable”. |
